About Us

Human Resilience has been set up to help support the human aspects of business continuity, an area where there is a growing demand for information and support. Oour hope is that this website will be a portal for information, a forum for debate and where you can update regularly with our latest research, information and case studies.

Emerald-jane Turner trained as an Occupational Therapist in 1978 and over 25 years has headed departments in the NHS, trained psychotherapists in Europe and South Africa, specialised in working in the field of trauma both with individuals and organisations and contributed to ‘Trauma , A Guide for Counsellors.’ For 5 years she was the external trauma supervisor for the Counselling and Trauma Service at London Underground and is a regular lecturer at Westminster University on Approaches to Stress and Trauma.

She draws on this extensive experience to develop innovative strategies for managing stress and trauma in organisations throughout Europe.

In the immediate aftermath of the recent London bombings Emerald-jane was instrumental in supporting the recovery of staff, by facilitating groups for the sites affected, advising managers and gathering feedback for the organisation. She supported in-house counselling staff by facilitating groups focusing on maintaining staff resilience. Emerald-jane is a specialist consultant on critical incidents for responders.

Currently she provides consultancy services related to Human Resilience strategies and trainings, focussed on managing stress and trauma, particularly for organisations interfacing with the public.

Du Pont Holdings Europe, Phyleon EAP (The Netherlands), West Sussex PCT, Off the Record voluntary counselling services, Care UK Fostering services, TfL (press and communications department, customer services call centre, L&D department) , London Underground (counselling and trauma service, stations and depots, L&D department,) London United Buses, London Sovereign Buses, Westminster University Integrated School of Health.

Siobhán is an experienced and qualified CIPD learning and development consultant, a UKCP registered psychotherapist with specialist training in working with Trauma and a member of the International Stress Management Association (MISMA).

Siobhan has provided specialist trauma de-briefing sessions for a number of staff at all levels. This has ranged from working with people who have been wounded in armed robberies to working with an HR team helping them to manage the suicide of a member of staff. She has also provided facilitation and training to help HR teams think through how they might place employee wellbeing on the strategic map for the organisation.

More recently she has worked with London Fire Brigade with the counselling team providing specialist critical incident de-briefing services and delivered training programmes for their HR team on counselling skills for managing difficult situations.

She has over 9 years experience as a consultant designing and delivering learning programmes for organisations. In her career she has worked in human resources and managed learning & development for a city based investment company where she was involved in helping the organisation engage staff in business continuity issues, including training people to utilise critical incident plans.

Her approach stems from her experience helping individuals and organisations build resilience.
