Understanding the processes of traumatic stress enables organisations to create a number of in-house strategies for providing support and emotional first aid to their staff in order to ensure a supportive recovery environment and therefore reduce the need for longer-term support such as counselling. Our well researched model is based on extensive experience and involvement with a broad range of organisations and critical incidents.
The strategy we recommend is designed to build on learning from incidents. The four phases are:
• Proactive Phase
• Response Phase
• Recovery Phase
• Reflective Phase
